A snowboard was involved in a fatal accident yesterday afternoon, around 3pm after he fell from a rocky outcrop in an off piste area on a west-facing slope of the Aiguille Rouge.

An avalanche had apparently also been triggered, but it's unclear at this stage if the slide was the cause of the man's fall or had been triggered simoultaneously. Search and rescue teams were unable to revive him at the scene.

The nationality of the man isn't known currently. Our thoughts go out to his family & friends at this time.
