Les Arcs feels properly settled into winter this week. The higher villages are surrounded by snow and the mountains above Bourg Saint Maurice look well covered, especially across the Arc 2000 sector. There has been a steady build to the season so far rather than one single big snowfall, and that has helped create a decent early base on the upper slopes. Around resort there is a calm, mid December feel as the area prepares for the Christmas period.
Snow and Weather Summary
Current snow depths across Les Arcs are sitting at around 140 cm on the upper mountain, with approximately 25 to 30 cm reported at village level depending on altitude. Recent days have been mostly dry, with the snowpack benefiting from cold overnight temperatures that have dropped to around minus 6 degrees at altitude. Daytime temperatures have hovered just below freezing higher up, keeping snow conditions firm and consistent on prepared pistes. Forecasts for the next few days suggest light snowfall, potentially around 5 to 10 cm at mid to high elevations, with freezing levels remaining low. Wind has been light to moderate, mainly from the northwest, and has not significantly affected lift operations. Skiing is noticeably better above the mid stations, where coverage is stronger and snow quality is more reliable, while lower runs remain thinner and more variable.
