Les Arcs Snow Report: 21st December 2014
Woody’s Wevver Weport, I’m Dreaming Of A White Christmas
So, Les Arcs lovers, the snow report... No new snow to report I’m afraid, but we are remaining open unlike some other Savoie resorts that have had to close their doors for the Christmas and New Year holiday weeks.
The resort has 39 pistes open at the moment and the resort are working hard to keep them open and when the temperatures drop at night time the snow cannons can finally do their thing. Here is a link from ADS (the company that manages the ski resort) detailing the pistes and chairlifts that will be kept open for your downhill fun. It also says that there is a reduction on your ski pass prices. Check out the lift status page for real time lift openings
It hasn’t been sun, sun, sun or snow, snow, snow either but more snow, rain, sun. Sun is definitely better than rain and temperatures are set to be elevated for most of the week and finally drop down to regular winter temperatures around the 29th of December, hopefully bringing some snow along.
The snow was pretty hard and icy on Friday day but there was a dusting of snow on Friday evening and the snow over in 2000 is actually pretty decent. Everybody needs to remain vigilant when on the pistes though. Remember to warm-up and warm–down your body before and after skiing to prevent any unnecessary problems that could occur. You will also help avert any injuries that could happen if you fall on the ice, if your body is relaxed and prepared for exercise. There are some excellent yoga classes held by a lovely English lady in Bourg St Maurice for those of you who might need some guidance in the body limbering area. All the info can be found on the ‘Snowga’ Facebook group page.
The weather reports are constantly changing, so I can’t say for sure when the snow will arrive. All I know is that it will, eventually.
There’s only one thing on my Christmas list this year, a big old heap of snow and I’ll be one happy chappy. Unfortunately, I don’t think the snow will arrive in time for a snowy 25th but I will definitely be dreaming of a white Christmas.
