Les Arcs is very much in mid winter mode now, with the mountains looking well covered from top to bottom and the resort skiing smoothly across all sectors. From the wooded slopes around Peisey Vallandry to the wide open terrain above Arc 2000, conditions feel settled and dependable. There is a calm confidence to the skiing at the moment, with a solid base underfoot and plenty of variety across the domain.
Current snow depths are sitting at around 240 to 280cm on the upper mountain, with approximately 110 to 130cm in resort depending on altitude. There has only been a small amount of fresh snowfall in the past week, generally a light dusting at altitude, but the underlying snowpack remains strong and well bonded. Overnight temperatures have been cold, dropping to around -7 degrees Celsius higher up, while daytime temperatures are hovering close to -1 degree in the villages. The freezing level has mostly stayed below 1600m, helping preserve snow quality, and winds have been light to moderate, mainly noticeable on exposed ridges. Higher runs are skiing very well with firm but grippy snow, while lower slopes are best earlier in the day before becoming harder in the afternoon, especially on south facing pistes.
The forecast for the coming days points towards continued settled weather, with cold nights and a mix of sunshine and cloud during the day. With no significant snowfall expected in the short term, piste conditions should remain consistent and predictable. Early February brings a steady flow of events across Les Arcs, including evening activities in the villages, live music, and organised entertainment from the tourist office as the half term period approaches.
Les Arcs is offering reliable skiing across the whole area, with the best snow found higher up and on north facing terrain. For the most consistent conditions, aim for early starts on lower runs and spend the middle of the day exploring the upper mountain.
