Skiing with horse power

Updated

Although the eyes of most Winter sports fan are focused on Val d’Isere at the moment there are a number of smaller competitions taking place that we felt needed their own moment in the spot-light.

With that in mind we headed to Les Arcs for the French Ski Joering Championships. Ski Joering hails from Scandinavia and can be practiced with the skier being pulled by either dogs or horses. The original drag lift, the sport survives today in either touring or competition form and if you want an après ski activity or a day out on the hill away from the crowds then this is a sport worth checking out.
