Les Arcs is looking strong as we move into the last week of February, with a well established snowpack across the different altitude villages and the upper slopes above Arc 2000 holding a proper alpine feel. The north facing terrain is particularly well preserved, and the views across to La Plagne are as impressive as ever. The resort is lively with the holiday period in full swing, yet conditions on the mountain feel settled and reliable.
Snow and Weather Summary
Current snow depths are around 100 to 120 cm at resort level in Arc 1800 and Arc 2000, with between 190 and 250 cm reported on the upper slopes above 2500 metres, particularly around the Aiguille Rouge sector. A light top up of around 5 to 10 cm has fallen at higher elevations over recent days, freshening exposed runs and maintaining good surface quality. The underlying base remains solid across the area.
Temperatures have been seasonally cool, with minus 8 to minus 4 degrees on upper slopes and between minus 3 and plus 2 degrees in resort depending on sunshine. The freezing level has generally ranged between 1500 and 1800 metres, dropping overnight and allowing pistes to refreeze well. Winds have been mostly light, with occasional moderate gusts on ridgelines but no widespread disruption.
On piste, conditions are very good above 2000 metres, where snow remains firm and grippy through much of the day. The long descents from Aiguille Rouge are skiing particularly well, with strong coverage and consistent surfaces. Mid mountain slopes are in good shape after grooming and soften slightly on sunnier aspects during the afternoon. Lower runs towards Villaroger and the links across Paradiski remain open and well maintained, though they are best enjoyed earlier in the day if temperatures rise.
