Over the past few days, Les Arcs has experienced mixed weather conditions with clouds and clear skies and it's remained pretty cold with temperatures staying down -4°C to -7°C and an average freezing level of 1400m. The temperatures below 1400 have been milder, creating a freeze-thaw cycle, affecting snow quality on the lower ski slopes.
Upcoming weather in Les Arcs
Overnight and this morning, we’ve had a light snowfall in Les Arcs of around 10cm, due to a cold front from the north west. The freezing level is likely to fluctuate in the next few days with Friday evening being the highest at 3100m down to around 1250m on Sunday night. Temperatures will vary between a high of 5°C on Friday morning and a minimum of -6°C on Sunday.
This cold front will quickly be replaced by high pressure from Friday for the weekend bringing föhn winds. However it will chill down again on Sunday when we will start to see snowfall.
Looking ahead
The next significant snowfall in Les Arcs looks like being Monday, where it is anticipated that around 16cm will fall overnight. The moderate snowfall will continue through Tuesday bringing up to another 12cm. The freezing level will remain low at around 1000m.
