After the past couple of weeks of generosity from Mother Nature, she’s not finished quite yet. We might not be getting much more in the way of snowfall…but sunshine, yes. lots of that. The temperature is set to stay low too which will help keep any fresh dustings soft and playful.
Bear in mind, even though it’s cold it’s the sun reflection off the snow will burn (as my shnozz found out yesterday), so make sure you have the sun cream on!
In the video I head down from the top of the Derby run to Vagere in 1800, a nice long run with wide pistes, playful edges. Most runs are like this in terms of the snow conditions with the exception of the black runs which most of which are big mogul fields. I’m not a fan personally so tend to steer clear, but each to their own!
In regards to resort conditions, everywhere is open and running well. Off piste is slowly but surely getting tracked out but there are still areas awaiting fresh tracks. Thanks to the cold temperatures, it’s still easily possible to carve through the bumps and tracked areas making new tracks.
Currently the snow pack sits at 297cm at 3200m and 132cm at 1600m. Which based on last year is a big improvement opening lots more the terrain and ensuring the pistes are always fully covered.
As you can see by the video, the crowds and receded and we’ve had a week of short to no lift queues and wide open runs.
Today as yesterday, Les Arcs played host to the 3rd annual B&E Invitational competition. From the creative minds of Henrik Harlaut and Phil Casabon, it showcases a unique way to combine street/park and pipe features in one run. With 20 of the world's best skiers taking the challenge show the other riders and crowds their own style of tackling this exceptional course. See the short teaser clips at the end of the video. Then stay tuned in the next week for the full edit and interviews with B-Dog and E-Dollo themselves.
Rumor’s are that the park will remain open for use by the public for one week when another demo/competition will be taking place with the Les Arcs Freestyle team… otherwise with the 10cm or so forecasted over the week, we should be good for another week of awesome weather and even better skiing.
Bon après midi!
